GAZA / JERUSALEM — Khalil al‑Haya, the chief negotiator of Hamas, announced that the group has declared a permanent end to the war in Gaza. According to al‑Haya, Hamas has received guarantees from the United States, Arab mediators, and Turkey that hostilities will not resume and that a lasting ceasefire is now in place.
“We declare the end of war today and the beginning of a permanent ceasefire,” he said, highlighting that the agreement includes the reopening of the Rafah border crossing in both directions and the release of all Palestinian women and minors held in Israeli prisons.
Simultaneously, in Jerusalem, the Israeli government is preparing to vote on a ceasefire and hostage-prisoner exchange deal. The proposed agreement includes partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas — both alive and deceased — and the freeing of hundreds of Palestinian detainees.
The vote is expected to pass through the security cabinet and then be presented to the full government for approval. The decision will mark a crucial moment in the efforts to bring an end to months of devastating conflict in Gaza.
If enacted, the ceasefire agreement could pave the way for humanitarian relief, renewed diplomacy, and a fragile but hopeful step toward long-term stability in the region.
