Tibet- The office of the Dalai Lama has firmly denied any connection between the 90-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, following the release of new U.S. Department of Justice documents that mention the Dalai Lama more than 150 times.

In a statement on Sunday, the Dalai Lama’s office clarified that reports and social media posts suggesting any interaction with Epstein are completely false. “We can confirm unequivocally that the Dalai Lama has never met Jeffrey Epstein and has not authorized any meeting or interaction with him,” the statement read.

Born Tenzin Gyatso, the Dalai Lama recently won a Grammy for his audiobook Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness The Dalai Lama. While his life has been largely focused on promoting peace and human values, he has faced previous controversies, including a 2023 incident involving inappropriate conduct toward a student, which sparked public criticism.

Historically, the Dalai Lama fled Tibet in 1959 following a failed uprising against Chinese rule and established a Tibetan government-in-exile in Dharamsala, India. Beijing does not recognize this government, asserting Tibet has been part of China since the 13th century, while the Dalai Lama maintains Tibet was an independent state when the Chinese People’s Liberation Army entered the region.

The latest DOJ release contains over 3 million pages, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 images related to Epstein, including photographs, grand jury transcripts, and investigative records, many of which remain redacted. Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal charges of sex trafficking underage girls.

Summary: The Dalai Lama’s office confirms there has never been any meeting or interaction with Jeffrey Epstein, firmly rejecting any claims to the contrary.
